The E1 Series is coming to Monte Carlo following its presentation at the Monaco Yacht Club in September 2021.
The Principality has a number of representatives in this competition, including Lisa Caussin-Battaglia, the official Monegasque female driver for the Indian ‘Blue Rising’ team, and Giacomo Sacchi-Abbate, the MC male driver (reserve) for the E1 Series organisation.
This exceptional racing venue hosts this competition in the YCM enclosure at the gates of Monaco’s Port Hercule, on a stretch of water that runs the length of the principality’s new ‘Mareterra’ district, with perfect weather conditions for this UIM E1 Formula Electric Grand Prix.
The weekend got off to a better start than in previous events for Lisa Caussin-Battaglia in qualifying, with a 4th place finish at the end of the day on Saturday.
In the 3-boat semi-finals on Sunday morning, the Monegasque’s team finished P3 and P2 in these semi-finals (Team WESTBROOK, Team AOKI).
The competition rules for the last 2 events (Venice and Marbella) meant that Team Blue Rising would not qualify for the 4-boat final in the afternoon. Blue Rising had to take part in the ‘Place Race’ to secure 5th to 8th place.
A change in the rules from the Monaco competition went in our Monaco driver’s favour, with a repechage (2 teams) that qualified the Blue Rising team for the 5-boat final phase (new) following a minor technical problem on the start line of the leading Miami team (Miami, Brady, Blue Rising teams).
“The final was a no-win affair, with the Indian team finishing P5 in the final and dropping back to 7th in the overall World Championship standings.
The next round of the E1 Series takes place in Italy at Lake Como before the final round of the UIM E1 Electric World Championship.
