The Formula 2 Inshore World Championship drew to a close in style with a remarkable performance from Monegasque Giacomo Sacchi-Abbate, who took a superb second place in the Portuguese event at ‘Vila Velha de Rodão’.
During qualifying, the Monegasque shone by dominating Q2 and Q3, which put him in an ideal position for the following day’s Grand Prix. The Monaco driver capitalised on this performance and fought hard to finish P2 in this final Portuguese round. This excellent performance enabled him to move up one position in the overall UIM World Championship standings, to end the season in 7th place.
However, the 2024 season was not all plain sailing for the Monegasque driver. Between technical problems, off-track excursions and penalties, the Monegasque team had to deal with numerous obstacles during the five previous rounds. However, this last race in Portugal marked a turning point. His performance restored his confidence and put him in a good position to tackle the 2025 season.
