Lake Toba, Indonesia – 16 and 17 November 2024
Lake Toba in Indonesia was the setting for the Aquabike 2024 World Final, a flagship event in the UIM ClassPro World Championship. Despite the presence of the best riders who came to compete for the title, the Monegasque rider, entered in the Ski Ladies GP1 category and financially supported by the Fédération Monégasque Motonautique since 2016, ended the season on a disappointing note. In the parallel slalom event, she failed to climb up the rankings, finishing 8th out of 8 entrants. In the main event, she also struggled to find her rhythm, finishing 10th overall in the Indonesian event.
Organised by the UIM H2O promoter and sanctioned by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), the only institution officially entitled to award world titles in motorboating, the competition took place over 9 rounds in three countries: Vietnam, Italy and Indonesia. This international course offered varied and complex racing conditions, pushing the athletes to demonstrate all their technique.
Despite her unfailing determination and unparalleled perseverance over the last few years, this season the Monegasque rider still had to contend with machines that weren’t quite up to the demands of competition at this level. This equipment handicap undoubtedly played a part once again in her season’s results, as she defended her colours to finish 11th in the overall rankings.
The event, held at Lake Toba, attracted a large local audience as well as water sports enthusiasts from a variety of backgrounds, illustrating the growing success of the UIM Aquabike Mondial. The Fédération Monégasque Motonautique has been closely monitoring this latest event, ahead of its annual meeting scheduled for the end of November, where the guidelines for the 2025 season will be defined.
After a complicated year, Monegasque rider Lisa Caussin-Battaglia faces an uncertain future. Although she is equipped with new and improved equipment (source: Monaco Matin), she will have to overcome some major challenges if she is to compete with the best. The goal of making Monaco one of the world’s top aquabike nations and flying the Principality’s colours high still seems elusive.
